Mannings was appointed main contractor under a design-and-build contract to develop a centralised ambient distribution centre on a 20ha. site at Donabate, North County Dublin.
The 77,3850 sq.m project, containing 73,000 pallet locations, was successfully constructed in 36 weeks from commencement of steel. Mannings reused all excavated arisings from a glacial till sloping embankment, to create a platform for the distribution centre building and yard footprint. 250,000m3 of material was moved as part of cut and fill exercise, with no materials removed from site. A Quality Management Plan developed and implemented by Mannings ensured quality of the as constructed embankment, supported by on-site lab facility and an extensive testing and monitoring regime.
Mannings directed all coordination activities, (largely in advance of subcontractor appointments), resulting in zero additional steel modifications to the 3,000 tonne primary steel frame in Donabate.
Manning’s ‘Right first time’ approach adopted to all coordinating activities in Donabate contributing to the successful handover to operations 37 weeks from commencement of steel
