Senior & Intermediate Quantity Surveyors - ROI & NI

Overview:

Mannings Construction is currently seeking  highly skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyors and Intermediate Quantity Surveyors to join our teams in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The successful candidates will play a key role in managing the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring cost efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with contractual agreements.

With a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience for the Senior QS position and a minimum of 3 years experience for the Intermediate QS positions, the ideal candidates will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

– Prepare and review tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities, and other financial documentation for construction projects.
– Conduct detailed cost analysis, estimation, and budget forecasting throughout the project lifecycle, identifying potential cost savings and value engineering opportunities.
– Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
– Manage procurement processes, including sourcing materials and subcontractor services, negotiating contracts, and evaluating supplier bids.
– Monitor project expenditure against budget allocations, identifying variances and implementing corrective measures as necessary.
– Prepare and submit interim valuations, progress claims, and final accounts in accordance with contractual requirements and industry standards.
– Conduct regular site visits and inspections to assess progress, measure quantities, and verify work completed for payment purposes.
– Assess and certify subcontractor invoices and payments, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
– Provide timely and accurate financial reports, cost forecasts, and risk assessments to project stakeholders, including senior management and clients.
– Resolve contractual disputes, claims, and variations in collaboration with legal and commercial teams, maintaining positive relationships with all parties involved.
– Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in quantity surveying, continuously improving processes and procedures to enhance project outcomes.

Essential Requirements:

– Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
– Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in a contractor quantity surveying role in the UK or Ireland.
– Experience in cost management, risk assessment, and contract administration on medium to large-scale construction projects.

– Proficiency in quantity surveying software and tools, such as Cubit, Mudshark, Causeway or equivalent.
– Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement methods, and tendering processes.
– Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
– Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
– Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.

– Familiarity with construction industry regulations, standards, and best practices in Ireland.

– Full driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Desirable:

– Membership of a recognized professional body, such as the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI) or the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
